Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Yangon & City Highlights

Upon your arrival at Yangon International Airport (flight-dependent), you’ll be warmly welcomed by your tour guide, holding a sign with your name. After checking in at your hotel on Pansodan Road, set out to explore Yangon’s highlights.

Start with the magnificent Sule Pagoda, an ancient golden structure at the heart of the city, believed to be over 2,000 years old. Then, immerse yourself in the charm of the city center, home to historical colonial buildings. Visit Mahabandoola Park and the iconic Independence Monument, then take in the architectural grandeur of City Hall and the High Court.

Proceed to the Strand Hotel, Post Office, and explore the Secretary Office, a colonial-era building with a rich history tied to Myanmar’s struggle for independence.

Next, wander through the bustling streets of Little India and Chinatown, before heading to Bogyoke Market (closed on Mondays and public holidays), famous for its traditional Burmese jewelry, handicrafts, and textiles — perfect for souvenirs.

In the afternoon, marvel at the Shwedagon Pagoda, Myanmar’s most revered and grandest site, a stunning landmark that offers unforgettable photo opportunities and deep cultural and religious significance.

Day 2: Yangon to Hpa-An Sightseeing (By Private Car)

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, your driver and guide will pick you up for an exciting journey to Hpa-An, approximately 350 miles (570 kilometers) away, taking about 5.5 hours by private vehicle.

On the way, you’ll stop in Bago (58 kilometers from Yangon) to visit the Win Ga Baw Elephant Camp, located in Phayargyi Township. Here, you can meet the camp's adorable residents, including 8 baby elephants (4 of which are orphans) and 6 adult elephants.

Continue the scenic drive to Hpa-An, the capital of Kayin State, known for its stunning caves and natural beauty. Arriving in the late afternoon, check-in at your hotel.

In the evening, visit the tranquil Shwe Yin Myaw Pagoda, a serene Buddhist temple on the banks of the Thanlwin River, where you can enjoy a peaceful sunset over the river.

Day 3: Hpa-An Sightseeing (By Private Transportation)

After breakfast, embark on a day of exploration around Hpa-An, a city renowned for its natural beauty and historical sites.

Start your day with a visit to Saddan Cave, one of the most famous caves in the region. Wander through the cave and marvel at the stunning limestone formations, then enjoy the serene lake at the cave’s exit.

Next, head to Kyauk Kalat Pagoda, perched on a dramatic rock formation in the middle of a tranquil lake. This iconic photo spot offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and is a must-see.

Continue to Lumbini Garden, a peaceful area featuring dozens of Buddha statues set against a stunning backdrop of mountains. It’s a serene place to walk, reflect, and take in the natural beauty.

Afterward, explore Hpa-An Market, a lively local market where you can immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere and shop for local produce, traditional handicrafts, and souvenirs.

In the afternoon, visit Bayin Nyi Cave, a less-visited but impressive cave with fascinating stalactites and stalagmites. It’s a peaceful spot to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Finally, end your day with a visit to Kawgoon Cave, another spectacular cave system known for its ancient Buddhist carvings and impressive stalactites and stalagmites.

Day 4: Hpa-An to Kyaikthiyo (By Private Transportation)

After breakfast at your hotel, check out and conclude your sightseeing in Hpa-An. Then, begin your drive to Kyaikthiyo (approximately 112 kilometers, around 2 hours).

Upon arrival at Kimpun Base Camp, board a special truck that will take you up the mountain to the famous Kyaikthiyo Pagoda, home to the gravity-defying Golden Rock—a massive boulder covered in gold leaf, delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff. This sacred site offers a sense of wonder and deep spiritual significance.

In the evening, enjoy the sunset at Golden Rock, where you can capture panoramic views of the surrounding hills and the shimmering pagoda in the fading light.

Day 5: Kyaikthiyo to Bago to Yangon (By Private Transportation)

After breakfast at your hotel, wake up early for a sunrise visit to Golden Rock Pagoda, witnessing the breathtaking views as the first light hits the sacred site. Then, descend from the Kyaikthiyo Pagoda and proceed to Bago, the ancient Mon Capital, located 80 kilometers northeast of Yangon. As you drive through the countryside, enjoy the scenic landscapes and the peaceful atmosphere of rural Myanmar.

Upon arrival in Bago, your sightseeing tour will begin with a visit to Kyakhat Wine Monastery, where you can observe over 1,200 Buddhist monks quietly partaking in their merit lunch by 10:30 am—an awe-inspiring and serene experience.

Next, visit the stunning Shwemawdaw Pagoda, an ancient structure nearly as old as the Shwedagon Pagoda but built in the unique Mon style. Then, head to the Shwethalyaung Pagoda, home to the Reclining Buddha, a 28-meter-high, awe-inspiring Buddha statue, before a short visit to the Kyaikpun Pagoda, known for its impressive four seated Buddhas.

Afterward, explore the bustling Bago Local Market, where you can immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the region and shop for fresh produce, local goods, and souvenirs.

On your way back to Yangon, stop to visit the Allied War Cemetery at Htaukkyant, a solemn and respectful site dedicated to the soldiers who lost their lives during World War II.

Arrive back in Yangon and overnight at your hotel.

Day 6: Yangon to Heho, Pindaya, and Kalaw (By Flight)

After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Yangon Airport for your flight to Heho. Upon arrival at Heho Airport, your driver will take you on a scenic drive to Pindaya (approximately 2 hours). Pindaya is located in the west of the Shan State, and is famous for its caves and picturesque landscapes.

Your sightseeing begins at the Pindaya Cave, home to thousands of Buddha statues scattered throughout the cave. Next, visit Shwe U Min Cave, another impressive site with hundreds of golden Buddha statues. Then, take some time to visit Pone Taloke Lake, one of the landmarks of Pindaya. Enjoy the serene surroundings, and if you’re there at the right time, the sunset views over the lake will be especially beautiful.

In the late afternoon, proceed to Kalaw, a charming hill town in the Shan State. On the way, your driver will make stops at scenic viewpoints, giving you the opportunity to stretch your legs and capture stunning photographs of the surrounding hills and valleys.

As you approach Kalaw, you'll notice the change in scenery, with pine forests and cooler temperatures welcoming you to this hill station. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel and relax.

Day 7: Kalaw to Inle Lake (By Private Transportation)

After breakfast at your hotel, begin your sightseeing tour of Kalaw with a visit to the Kalaw Myoma Market, a lively and colorful market where you can experience the local culture. The market offers a variety of Shan traditional clothing, accessories, local products, and fresh foods—perfect for browsing and shopping.

Next, head to the Kalaw Railway Station and Watch Tower, a structure built in the colonial architectural style, located in the center of the city. It's a great spot for taking in views of the town and its surroundings.

Continue your tour with a visit to Hnee Pagoda, home to a 500-year-old, gold-lacquered bamboo Buddha, an impressive and unique cultural landmark in Kalaw.

After finishing your sightseeing in Kalaw, drive to Inle Lake. Along the way, enjoy the scenic drive through picturesque landscapes as you approach the serene lake.

Day 8: Inle Lake to Indein

After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy a morning motorboat sightseeing tour on Inle Lake. Begin with a visit to the floating market, which takes place every 5 days (depending on the Buddhist Sabbaths, so it may vary). The vibrant market offers a glimpse into the local life of the Inle Lake communities.

Continue your journey down a small canal leading to Indein, a village home to the ethnic Padaung people, also known as the "Long Neck women." You’ll walk through a covered alley lined with over a thousand ancient pagodas. Climb a long covered staircase to reach the Alaung Sithu Complex, where you can discover the beauty of ancient stupas, partially buried in lush vegetation, offering a panoramic view of the lake and surrounding areas.

Next, visit the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, one of the most famous landmarks of Inle Lake, housing five ancient Buddha statues that are over 800 years old, each covered in gold leaf.

Explore the local crafts of Inle Lake with a stop at the Inpawkhone weaving village, where traditional Shan textiles are made. Then, visit a cheroot factory to see how typical Burmese cigars are made by hand.

Continue to the Nga Phe Chaung Monastery, the oldest and largest monastery on Inle Lake, built on stilts over the water more than 200 years ago. If time allows, take a short walk through one of the charming lakeside villages to further immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere of Inle Lake.

After a day of sightseeing, return to your hotel to relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

Day 9: Inle Lake to Bagan (By Private Transportation)

After breakfast at your hotel, depart from Inle Lake and begin the scenic drive to Bagan in a comfortable private car. Along the way, make a short stop for refreshments and to stretch your legs. As you continue your drive, enjoy the changing landscapes and rural views, offering a peaceful glimpse into Myanmar’s countryside.

In the afternoon, arrive in Bagan, a UNESCO World Heritage site located on the banks of the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River. Known for its vast and stunning collection of Buddhist temples, pagodas, stupas, and ruins, Bagan is home to the largest and densest concentration of these ancient structures in the world. Many of these magnificent temples date back to the 11th and 12th centuries.

In the evening, enjoy a sunset boat ride on the tranquil waters of the Irrawaddy River. Watch in awe as the sun sets over the horizon, casting a golden glow over the river and the distant temples, creating a magical and unforgettable atmosphere.

Afterward, return to your hotel to relax.

Day 10: Bagan Sightseeing

After breakfast, start your day with a visit to the Shwezigon Pagoda, a golden stupa that is considered the prototype of later Myanmar pagodas. Built in 1087, it’s one of the most important religious sites in Bagan.

Next, visit Gubyaukgyi, a cave temple in Wetkyi-Inn Village, famous for its exquisite Jataka mural paintings. Continue to the Htilominlo Temple, known for its fine plaster carvings and beautiful glazed sandstone decorations.

In the afternoon, visit a traditional lacquer ware workshop, where you can watch artisans create one of Myanmar’s most famous handicrafts.

Then, head to the Ananda Temple, an architectural masterpiece and one of Bagan’s most beautiful temples. Built in the early Mon style, Ananda is home to two unique Buddha images whose expressions appear to change depending on the angle from which they are viewed.

Continue your exploration with visits to Thatbyinnyu, the tallest temple in Bagan, the massive Dhammayangyi Temple, famous for its impressive brickwork, and the stunning Sulamani Temple.

In the evening, enjoy a horse-cart ride through the temples, a unique way to take in the grandeur of Bagan for about two hours. End your day with a sunset at Bu Paya Pagoda, where you can witness the sun setting over the Irrawaddy River, casting a golden glow over the ancient temples.Afterward, return to your hotel to relax.

Day 11: Bagan to Mount Popa to Mandalay (By Overland Trip)

After breakfast at your hotel, check out and embark on a scenic drive to Mount Popa, approximately 1.5 to 2 hours away. As you drive, you’ll pass through rural landscapes, offering glimpses of traditional Myanmar life and picturesque countryside views.

Mount Popa, an extinct volcano and sacred pilgrimage site, is famous for its dramatic landscapes and spiritual significance. Upon arrival, you’ll explore the Taung Kalat Monastery, which is perched atop a volcanic peak. To reach the monastery, climb the 777 steps, passing shrines dedicated to nat (spirits), which adds to the area’s mystical and spiritual atmosphere. Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding plains and the mountain.

After visiting Mount Popa, continue your journey to Mandalay, where you’ll check in at your hotel.

In the later evening, visit Mandalay Hill, where you can climb to the top for spectacular views of the city and surrounding landscapes. The panoramic vistas, especially at sunset, make for a memorable experience.

After your visit, return to your hotel to relax.

Day 12: Mandalay to Sagaing and Amarapura (By Private Car)

After breakfast at your hotel, begin your day by driving to Sagaing, located just 12 miles (20 km) southwest of Mandalay, accessible by crossing the long Sagaing Bridge over the Irrawaddy River. Sagaing is known for its numerous Buddhist monasteries and is an important religious and monastic center in Myanmar. The pagodas and monasteries line the hills that run parallel to the river, creating a serene and spiritual landscape.

Your first stop in Sagaing will be the Yoke Sone Monastery, a fine example of Inwa-era architecture. Built and donated by the second king of Inwa to Ariyawuntha Sayadaw, this monastery is a significant cultural and religious site.

Next, visit U Min Thonze (Hall of Thirty Buddhas), a central pagoda known for its serene and spiritual atmosphere. Continue to visit the Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda and Kaung Hmu Daw Pagoda, which are key landmarks in the area.

In the afternoon, return to Mandalay, then drive to Amarapura, a city famous for the Mahagandaryone Monastery, where you can witness the daily life of monks. At mid-morning, you will have the chance to see the monks and novices silently line up to receive their daily offering of alms and food from the faithful Buddhist community.

In the evening, head to U Bein Bridge for a sunset view. This 1.2 km teakwood bridge spans Taungtaman Lake and is believed to be the oldest and longest teakwood bridge in the world. It offers a stunning and peaceful setting for sunset, creating a picturesque and memorable moment.

Afterward, return to your hotel in Mandalay to relax.

Day 13: Mandalay to Ava (Inwa) and Back to Mandalay (By Private Transportation)

After breakfast at your hotel, head out for a day trip to Inwa (also known as Ava), an ancient city near Mandalay, which served as the capital of Myanmar from the 14th to the 19th centuries. Known for its historic religious structures, Inwa offers a fascinating glimpse into Myanmar's royal past.

Arriving in Inwa, you'll take a horse cart ride to explore the ruins of the old royal capital. Key sights include the watchtower and the Leaning Tower, a 27-meter tall structure that was once part of the royal palace. Visit the Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery (also known as Me Nu Oak Kyaung), a beautiful brick-built structure with elaborately designed stucco decorations that resemble intricate carvings. Continue to Bargaya Monastery, a stunning teakwood building renowned for its detailed wood carvings.

After returning to Mandalay, visit the Mahamuni Image, one of Myanmar’s most revered Buddha statues. Watch as local people pray and place gold leaf paper on the statue for blessings. You’ll also have the chance to participate in this tradition by buying gold paper and making a wish (note that only men are allowed to place the gold leaf on the statue).

On your way to the Mahamuni Image, stop by the Shwenandaw Monastery, also known as the Golden Palace Monastery. Built in the 19th century, this monastery is famous for its teak carvings depicting Buddhist myths and was once part of King Mindon’s royal palace. Continue to the Atumashi Monastery, a beautiful and incomparable example of 19th-century Myanmar architecture.

End your afternoon by visiting the Kuthodaw Pagoda, home to the world’s largest book of Buddhist scriptures, etched into 729 marble slabs. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and offers a serene and spiritual experience.

After a full day of exploration, return to your hotel in Mandalay to relax.

Day 14: Mandalay to Yangon (By Flight / Private Transportation)

After breakfast at your hotel in Mandalay, start your day with a visit to Zegyo Market, the oldest and largest shopping market in Mandalay, built during the reign of King Mindon. This bustling market is a great place to observe the daily life of locals and offers a variety of goods, from food to textiles.

In the afternoon, transfer to Mandalay Airport for your flight to Yangon. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel, and then head to Yangon Central Station where you'll board the "Circular Train". This unique train ride takes you around different districts and suburbs of the city. The train moves slowly, allowing you to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Yangon as you pass through residential neighborhoods, markets, and small villages. The journey lasts about 20 to 30 minutes, offering a local, authentic experience of daily life in the city.

Disembark at Kyee Myin Daing Station, one of the most beautiful stations in Yangon. From there, take a trishaw ride along Shan Road, where you’ll explore a local market filled with exotic fruits, vegetables, fresh meat, and other products unique to Myanmar. Continue your journey to the docks, where you'll find a market specializing in bananas, coconuts, and sugar cane.

In the evening, enjoy a leisurely walk around Kandawgyi Lake, where you can relax and take in the scenic views of the lake and the iconic Karaweik Palace, a majestic replica of a royal barge.

Afterward, return to your hotel to relax and unwind.

Day 15: Yangon Departure

After breakfast at your hotel, start your last day in Yangon with a visit to Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda, home to a massive 66-meter-long Buddha image. This serene and impressive statue is one of the most revered in Yangon, with 108 auspicious signs displayed for visitors to observe.

Next, visit Nga Htat Gyi Pagoda, renowned for its enormous seated Buddha in royal regalia, draped in a golden robe. This grand Buddha is another significant landmark in Yangon, offering a peaceful atmosphere and a chance for reflection.

Later, our team will arrange for your transfer to Yangon International Airport for your departure flight. As you drive through the city, you can take in the beautiful scenery one last time, bidding farewell to the enchanting sights of Myanmar.
