Day01: Arrival Luang Prabang (No Meal)

Your tour will start with a visit to the Morning Market, a lively street where locals shop for everything from colorful vegetables and exotic fruits to live frogs. From the energy of the market, you'll step into the serene calm of one of the city’s most elaborate monasteries, Wat Mai, and then to the former King's Palace, where you’ll discover the history and present life of Luang Prabang. From there, we will head to the ancient Wat Xieng Thong temple, which features a spectacular low sweeping roof. It's Luang Prabang’s most distinctive and recognized monastery. Lunch at own account. Afternoon we'll visit either the UXO Visitor's Centre*, which documents the devastation that Laos suffered during the Second Indochina War, or peruse local crafts at Ock Pop Tok, which brings the fascinating world of traditional Lao handicrafts alive for guests. Next, we’ll explore the 16th century Wat Visoun temple, known for its enormous stupa and its collection of old gilded Buddhas. We'll finish the day visiting the Traditional Art and Ethnology Centre (TAEC)**, the only independent resource center in Laos dedicated to the country's many and diverse ethnic groups. *The Unexploded Ordnance Museum (UXO Museum) is closed on Saturday & Sunday. **The Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre is closed on Monday.

Day03: Luang Prabang (B- - )

PAK OU CAVE, KUANG SI WATERFALL, BEAR SANCTUARY
The Pak Ou Cave and Kuang Si Waterfall lie to the north and south of Luang Prabang city, respectively. This tour will take you to both, with a scenic drive up and down the length of the Mekong River between.
Meet your guide early morning for a forty-minute drive to the Pak Ou Village where you are free to explore the many crafts that the locals make before crossing the mighty Mekong River by small boat to the base of a limestone cliff, the site of the Pak Ou Cave. The lower cave is impressive and filled with Buddhist statues and relics. Take your time to explore the reverent scene scented with burning incense and overlooking the impressive Mekong landscape. Up a winding series of stairs, grab a flashlight and you'll find another fascinating and easily navigated cave to explore with it's ancient Buddhist relics before we have lunch (Meal by customer own account). Afterward, we’ll cross the Mekong again by boat and continue with a drive downriver for 1.5 hours to the famous Kuang Si Waterfall. On the way we’ll stop to see the popular Whiskey Village and sample the locally made Lao Lao. The jungle around the waterfall remains lush and beautiful year-round. The waterfall cycles between placid, turquoise waters during the dry season to impressive, roaring falls during the rainy season. Either way, you’re in for a refreshing and beautiful nature experience. Integrated into the landscape is an Asiatic Bear Sanctuary where you can see these beautiful creatures up close and support efforts to care for the animals in the area. We’ll end this full day with a return drive to Luang Prabang late afternoon and in time for your own evening activities. Note that the stairs are short but steep into the lower Pak Ou Cave containing the thousands of Buddhist statues. Access to the upper cave is via a fairly long series of stairs and can be taken at your own pace.

Day04: Luang Prabang (B-L- )

After breakfast, we heading to the Living land farm, where you will experience the process of making rice – from seed to table on this half-day 'Rice is Life' interactive experience. We go explore the life cycle of rice with this superb day activity suitable for families and individuals. Rice is the center of Life in Laos, and we make it your focus point for the day. The Living Lands Farm, a community enterprise just outside of Luang Prabang, which maintains educational programs and professional organic farming right next to village rice paddies. You are able to join the interactive rice farming experience which actively benefits locals from the community, maintaining their crafts in their traditional form. You will see and learn about bamboo weaving, tool and trap-making gardening and even blacksmithing.
Enjoy your sweet lunch at the farm.
In the afternoon, you driver to the pier and enjoy your short cruise to Ban Chan, as known Pottery Village. The families of our village have been making pottery. Ancient kings of Laos chose this village for their pottery making skills and it became the central way of life for the people. At first the pots were used to ferment fish and hold water but now families produce a large range of items from beautifully decorated planters to terracotta roof tiles, making them almost entirely by hand using the same techniques passed down through the centuries. You will also have an opportunity to get hands-on with the clay yourself. Our skilled pottery makers will help guide you as you experience, up close and personal, a truly Lao cultural activity. How many people can say they've made Lao pottery using ancient techniques? You will! Later on, walking to your boat and slow cruising up to Luang Prabang while beautiful sunset. Day05: Luang Prabang-(Train)-Vang Vieng (B- -)
Breakfast at your hotel.
Then you transfer to Luang Prabang Train Station for 1-hour express train to Vang Vieng. check in at your hotel with some rest. Afterwards, we’ll take a small boat on the Nam Song River to Vang Vieng. You'll spend the night in your selected hotel in Vang Vieng.

Note: the boat trip is subject to favourable weather conditions and water levels – if not suitable, the return to Vang Vieng will be by road.
*Optionally, you can explore another side Nam Song River and the Vang Vieng landscape by a guided bike tour.

Day06: Vang Vieng-(Car)-Vientiane (B- -)

After being picked up from your Vang Vieng hotel, pay a visit to the magnificent Tham Chang Cave, then continue to Ban Pha Thao Hmong Village to learn more about the Hmong people and their rich cultural heritage. Set out on the return journey to Vientiane, stopping along the way to explore Tham Poukham and enjoy lunch at your staying hotel. Afternoon we leave from Vang Vieng by private car for Vientiane, the capital and largest city of Lao PDR. On the way, we will stop at a huge fish market in Ban Tha Heua where you can see a selection of the abundance of fish indigenous to Laos. Overnight in Vientiane

Day07: Vientiane (B- -)

This morning see the Buddha Park, a scattered enchanting collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures on the Mekong Riverside meadow, close to the Friendship Bridge. There are approximately 200 religious images dating back over 500 years, which were created by a mysterious monk spreading his philosophy on life and revealing his ideas about the universe. Visit the city's Talat Sao (“Morning” Market), full of bright colours and exotic aromas. Amid baskets piled with rice, eggs and tea, ducks, pigs and fish, both alive and dead, food stalls sell noodles, soup, and 'food to go' wrapped in banana leaves. Afternoon continue to visit Lao’s national precious heritage, the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa; And as one of Vientiane's most popular sites of worship, Wat Si Muang offers fascinating insights into how ancient animist beliefs have blended seamlessly with Theravada Buddhism.
You will also visit Wat Sisaket, the city's oldest temple, and Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha. Patuxay Monument and Lao’s national icon That Luang Stupa round out your day.

DAY08: Vientiane - flight to Pakse - Bolaven plateau (B- -)
Breakfast at your hotel. Our driver will Transfer from hotel to the airport for flight to Pakse. Suggestion flight QV305 VTE-PKZ 0805 – 0905 (Price in Supplement)
Departure for Bolaven Plateau, visit a Tea & Coffee Plantation and follow the Tad Fane Waterfall. Then stop at a Coffee Plantation. Subsequent stops to visit two ethnic minority villages, Ban Bong Neua Alak village and Ban Kokphung Katu village. In the afternoon, arrive and stop at Tad Lo Falls. Rest of the day at leisure to relax or swim in its natural waters.

DAY09: Bolaven plateau - Wat phou - Don khong (B- -)
In the morning visit Phaxouam waterfall and we'll continue south reaching the ruined Khmer temple complex of Wat Phou. The first temple on the site was built as early as the 5th century, though the current ruins are from the 11th to 13th centuries. This complex was designated a World Heritage site in 2001.
Then we'll head further south on a scenic drive to Don Khong. On the way we stop at another temple ruin , Wat Tomo. It also contains pre-Angkorian sculptures, in particular a beautiful Mukhalinga (a human-headed linga now located at the Vat Phou Museum). This island is one of the larger permanent islands in the ‘Si Pan Don’ (4000 Islands) area.

DAY 10(4Feb): Don khong - 4000 islands - Champasak (B- -)
Early in the morning, we will explore Si Pan Don by boat. Here, the Mekong River is at its widest, stretching up to 12 km during the rainy season. As the waters recede, many small islands emerge, giving the region its name. From a distance, you can hear the unmistakable roar of the Li Phi falls, which we will visit. We will also view the old locomotive and a railway, as well as a colonial bridge built by the French in order to avoid navigating the rapids and waterfalls in this section of the Mekong. We'll cross the Mekong to return to the mainland and visit the famous cascade falls of Khone Phapheng, the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia. Afterward, we will drive north again to reach Ban Muang and Champasak for the night.
