Itinerary:

  • 8:00 AM - Hotel Pick-Up: Begin your day with a comfortable pick-up from your hotel in Mandalay, and travel to the ancient city of Inwa (Ava) in a private, air-conditioned vehicle.
  • 9:30 AM - Arrival in Inwa (Ava): Upon arrival in Inwa, enjoy a relaxing horse cart ride around the ancient city, visiting key historical sites.
  • Key Sites in Inwa:
    • The Watchtower: Climb to the top of the famous Ava Watchtower for panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
    • Leaning Tower: Explore the 27-meter-tall Leaning Tower, a relic of the royal palace that leans at an intriguing angle.
    • Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery (Me Nu Oak Kyaung): Admire the beautifully designed brick monastery with intricate stucco carvings.
    • Bargaya Monastery: Step into the teakwood masterpiece, known for its stunning wood carvings that depict mythical Buddhist tales.
  • 1:00 PM - Lunch: Enjoy a delicious traditional Burmese lunch at a local restaurant, savoring authentic flavors of Myanmar.
  • 2:30 PM - Return to Mandalay: After exploring Inwa, return to Mandalay by private vehicle.
  • 3:00 PM - Mahamuni Image: Upon returning to Mandalay, visit the Mahamuni Image, one of the most sacred Buddha statues in Myanmar. Watch as locals place gold leaf on the statue and join in this heartfelt tradition (note: only men are allowed to apply the gold leaf).
  • 4:00 PM - Shwenandaw Monastery (Golden Palace Monastery): Visit the exquisite Shwenandaw Monastery, known for its intricate teak carvings depicting Buddhist mythology. This monastery was once part of the royal palace of King Mindon.
  • 4:45 PM - Atumashi Monastery: Continue to the Atumashi Monastery, a beautiful example of 19th-century Myanmar architecture, offering a peaceful atmosphere and stunning design.
  • 5:30 PM - Kuthodaw Pagoda: Conclude your day with a visit to the Kuthodaw Pagoda, home to the world’s largest book, where Buddhist scriptures are inscribed on 729 marble slabs. The serene environment offers a perfect place for reflection and spiritual insight.
  • 6:30 PM - Return to Hotel: After a full day of cultural and spiritual exploration, relax as we return to your hotel in Mandalay.
