Day02: Luang Prabang

An early morning get up if you wish to do Sai Bat (Morning Alms) is a longstanding tradition in Laos Buddhist culture. In observing it, the devoted offer food to monks throughout the Luang Prabang every morning.

Start with the Morning Market, where you will see diverse and unusual offerings such as: dried buffalo skin, local tea, live chickens, vegetables and local hill-tribe weavings. Right in front of the morning market, Wat Mai – the largest and most richly decorated temple in town. The monastery served as a temple for the royal family and is the residence of the Pra Sangkharat, the highest Laotian Buddhist dignitary. Some steps away, we’ll pay a visit to The National Museum, housed in the former Royal Palace, showcases many treasures of Laos' royal past and features the Prabang, the sacred Buddha image for which Luang Prabang was named. End our morning at Wat Xieng Thong, the largest and most splendid temple of Luang Prabang royal city, best known for its impressive Tree of Life mural depicting the Buddhist story.
Afternoon we'll visit either Tad Kuang Si Waterfall is the biggest waterfall in the Luang Prabang area with three tiers leading to a 50-meter drop into spectacular azure pools before flowing downstream. The pools also make great swimming holes and are very popular with both tourists and locals. Visit the Bear Rescue Center within the Kuang Si Waterfall Park (No extra entrance ticket).
Many of the bears at the Tat Kuang Si Bear Rescue Centre were destined for bile farms or kept illegally as 'pets'. Since 2003, we've been working with the Luang Prabang Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Office to create a safe haven for these victims of the illegal wildlife trade. The bears can now relax in hammocks, play with new friends and live a safe, healthy life.
KUANG SI BUTTERFLY PARK
Situated 300 m before the entrance of Kuang Si Waterfall. Kuang Si Butterfly Park is a project that was initiated in January 2014 by 2 passionate people from Holland. The mission was to create a research center studying and publishing about Laos butterflies, host plants and preservation due to environmental issues in Laos. A nice little café on the pond can finish the visit, for having a good coffee, delicious baguette in a beautiful surrounding.

Day03: Luang Prabang-(Train)-Vang Vieng (B- -)

After breakfast, We get onto a traditional boat cruising up to Pak Ou Cave. Located 25 km upriver from Luang Prabang right on the river bank at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Ou Rivers, Pak Ou Caves are a well-known Buddhist pilgrimage site with many statues and statuettes of the Buddha in the traditional Luang Prabang style. Enjoy splendid natural scenery along the way and observing local fishermen and daily activities along the river. Pak Ou Caves, locally called Tam Ting, are filled with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues. The caves are noted for their miniature Buddha sculptures. Hundreds of wooden Buddhist figures take many different positions, including meditation, teaching, peace, rain and reclining (nirvana).
On the way back, you will also have opportunity to visit the local riverside villages of Ban Xanghai, a popular stop- over producing some special varieties of Laos, the local rice wine. Second stop at Ban Xang Khong, known for its handmade paper and weaving craft.
Afternoon your driver will accompany you to the train station for a departure to Vang Vieng. Upon arrival you will meet & Greet our new guide, and transfer you to hotel for check in.

Day04: Vang Vieng-(Car)-Vientiane (B- -)

Heading 2km out of Vang Vieng town, we explore the famous caves of Tham Jang, which was once used by the local people as a hideout from Chinese invaders. We also cross the river to Ban Huai Ngai, a very pleasant village where we can explore the different lifestyles of the locals.
Continue to drive out to the countryside.the secret: limestone peaks, caves, villages, rice paddies. And you do not only spend the day driving; you hike too, to experience peace & the charm of this unique landscape (from Mount Pha Ngeun in particular) or join unusual sites (like Tham Phoukham, a vast cave which houses a Reclining Buddha). Grimpettes expected. After that, a good splash in the beautiful waters of the Blue Lagoon will do the most good. Best little swimming hole, the Blue Lagoon, where a river of soft, delicately pale blue flows slowly out of the jungle, deepening in the middle to create a perfect place to swim in during those hot afternoons. Best of all, there's a tree that grows right over the deepest part of the river, with branches perfectly aligned overhead as diving platforms.
After that, heading to Vientiane via private car with our tour guide with aproximatly 2hrs drive. Vientiane is the capital city of Laos and, located on the banks of the Mekong River, it conjures up exotic images with a curious mix of Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, French influences.

Day05: Vientiane – Airport
Breakfast at your hotel.
Start to explore the major sights of the capital; including the oldest Wat Sisaket, the temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Our next stop is a visit to the COPE Centre where you will learn about this remarkable educational centre, a heartbreaking but compelling place that teaches us about Laos' Hidden War. Next, we will stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane's own Arc de Triumph, before continuing to Lao's national precious heritage, the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa.
The afternoon, Transfer with driver only from hotel to the airport for flight departure.
