Shopping in Yangon

Bogyoke Aung San Market, inaugurated in 1926, is the most popular market of Yangon and of Myanmar as well. A wide range of Myanmar made souvenirs and Traditional art & crafts such as Lacquer ware, Paintings, Antiques, Tapestries, Textile, Gems and Jewelries are available in this market and in downtown Yangon.
Consumer goods and foodstuff are on sale at Theingyi Market, which comprises separately standing five largest sheds, is for retailers and wholesaler. Thiri Mingalar Market at Alon Township on the bank of Yangon River is the biggest fresh fruits, flower and vegetable market of the city. Farmer from other towns brings their produces right to the market.
One after another shopping centres / shopping malls are emerging in commercially viable locations around the city. All of them are multi-storied and FMI Centre, City Supermarket, Dagon Centre Shopping Mall, Blazon, Junction 8, Northern point, Ocean, Yuzana Plaza,Excel Tower, Sein Gay Har are more popular among others. Bogyoke Aung San Market

The market was first built and inaugurated on the present premises in 1926. It was named Scott Market after Mr. C. Scott, the then Municipal Commissioner. Nowadays, it is called Bogyoke Aung San Market in honor of our national leader General Aung San. It is known for its colonial architecture and inner cobblestone streets.
