Ziyadum

Situates about 60 kilometers west of Putao with an altitude at 3440 feet (1040 meters), Ziyadum is one of the last frontier village in Myanmar. Inhabitants are predominately Rawan tribe. This area is beautiful with pristine forests and rivers often cross by suspension bridges. Ziyadum village is center points for many mountains in the areas such as Phonyin, Ziya, Pangram and Phangran which all are of snow capped and can be seen as closed as a hand reach in a clear day.

The Last Village

Day 01 Arrival - Putao

Upon arrival at Putao airport you will be met by one of our resident representatives and transferred to your guest house. After a brief fresh up we shall walk to the near by local restaurant. In the afternoon we will take a walk to near by Majaw Lisu village about 2 hour through the paddy field. This village is beautiful having backdrop Mt. Slimatdin with blazing snow over the horizon during sunset. Dinner will be at local restaurant or at your hotel. We shall have a group meeting, introducing among the group members, with local staff and briefing about the trek prior to dinner. Overnight will be at Putao Trekking House. (basic standard facilities such as proper sleeping facility, warm water and western toilet will be provided)

Day 02 Putao - upper Shangaung - Wasandum (jeep/trek)

Breakfast and we visit attractive Putao market often fills with local tribal such as Rawan, Lisu, Kachin etc. Later we depart by jeep or truck (depending on the group size) to upper Shangaung (16 km, approx 1 hour). This village has inhabitant of both Lisu and Rawan tribes. Our adventure starts as we get off the jeep and start trek to Wasandum village (19 km, approx 6 hour) through Mt. Shangaung at approx 4600 feet (1400 meters) by the shoulder of Mt. Slimatdin 6000 feet (1830 meters). To day journey is a real testing one for this trek, as you have to ascend to 4600 feet (1400 meters) and then descend back to 3000 feet (914 meters) with a distance of 12 miles. Wasandum is a small Rawan village situates by Namlan creek. We will have pack lunch on the way and dinner will be freshly cooked and to be served local style. We spend the night at Wasandum Guest House. (foam mattress, blanket and pillow will be provided)

Day 03 Wasandum - Awadum - Kalang - Ziyadum (trek)

Breakfast and we shall leave the village for our today destination at Ziyadum. To day journey will be much easier since we will be walking on relatively flat land with just a bit of ups and downs. At first we cross Namro Creek to Awadum village (6.4 km, approx 2 hour). Awadum village is mainly inhabited by Lisu tribe and separate in to two by a large paddy field. Here we cross a suspension bridge that span Namlang creek to Kalang (Rawan tribe). On a sunny day, you will find blazing Mt. Phonyin Razi just a hand reach away. We shall have a short lunch stop and continue trek to Ziyadum (5.6 km, approx 2 hour) through deeper evergreen forest. Ziyadum, situate at altitude of 3440 feet (1050 meters) is the most northwestern and last frontier village in Putao region, mainly resident are Rawan tribes. There will be plenty of time to settle down once we arrive Ziyadum. It is recommended to visit Ziya creek for a fantastic sunset view with a blazing Snow Mountains in the west which spark in to steady flowing Ziya creek. A pre dinner cocktail will be served over a bonfire on the deck that overview Ziya creek. Overnight will be at Rawan traditional style Ziya lodge. (basic standard facilities such as proper sleeping facility, warm water and western toilet will be provided)

Day 04 Ziyadum (trek)

Breakfast and we have a relaxing day. You may simply sit by the Ziya river and enjoy the mountain views, listen to the birds call, fishing iced water fish in the river or go day return trip to Chaungzone (8km, approx 3 hour). Chaungzone is beautiful spot with deep evergreen forest with plenty of bird life. We will have an opportunity of social interact with local hunters, medicinal plants and roots seekers etc on the way. We shall have packed lunch at Chaungzone camp and afternoon we return back to Ziyadum. Dinner and overnight at Ziya Lodge.

Day 05 Ziyadum - Wasandum (trek)

We shall have another lazy morning as the trek today by all means not strenuous and relatively short. After an early lunch we bid farewell to the blazing mountains and head back to our today destination, Awadum crossing suspension bridges and through beautiful Evergreen Avenue. We shall have dinner and overnight at Wasandum Guesthouse.

Day 06 Wasundum - Shangaung - Putao (trek/jeep)

Having left the wilderness behind and returning to the clutches of human civilization trek uphill to the plateau of Mount Shangaung, before continuing rapidly downhill to Shangaung village where our jeep meets us and take us back to Putao. After checking in at our guesthouse and freshening up, we go out for a farewell dinner with our fellow group members, including leaders, porters, and commemorate the experience that we've shared for the past two weeks in this unique part of the world. Overnight will be at Putao Trekking House.

Day 07 Putao - Machanbaw - Mulashidi - Putao (jeep)

Breakfast and we visit Machanbaw, leaving by jeep for Naungkan village (14 mile, 1 hour). Cross suspension bridge (on foot) to Machanbaw, a small administrative town beautifully set up with colonial style, connected by 211 meter long Malikha suspension bridge. Explore this charming town and have lunch at local shop in the small market. Af
ternoon visit Mulashidi village (Lisu tribe) with suspension bridge across Mula river, which is beautiful having back round dens forest and village in the foreground with activities along the Mula river. We shall have our dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight will be at Putao Trekking House.

Day 08 Departure

Breakfast and transfer to airport, good bye to our team and board on our onwards departure flight to complete this unique adventure.
